Attorney Jerry Crouter Honored With Equal Justice Hero Award

Maine Equal Justice Partners honored Portland attorney Jerrol (Jerry) Crouter with its Pro Bono Equal Justice Hero Award.

The award is given annually to someone who has made a significant contribution to strengthening access to justice in Maine. This award is reserved for those whose efforts seek to bring equal treatment before the law to Maine’s most vulnerable.

“Jerry has guided the organization with both reason and compassion and has demonstrated unwavering dedication to creating enduring solutions to poverty,” said Robyn Merrill, executive director of Maine Equal Justice Partners, “For twenty years, we have relied on his sound counsel as we seek to advance equal justice through impact litigation, legislative and administrative advocacy. His extensive legal expertise, quick and sharp mind, and focus on the role of systemic advocacy to create social and economic justice have been great gifts to Maine Equal Justice and the people we represent.”  

Crouter is a member of the Trial Services Group at Drummond Woodsum in Portland. He served on MEJP’s Board of Directors for twenty years and is a past chair of the Campaign for Justice. 

The award will be recognized at the Muskie Fund for Legal Services dinner on May 30th.
