Getting Pay Right: Compliance and Fairness

This workshop will answer the age old question – how do we get our pay “right.” Compensation is the fulcrum of the employer-employee relationship. For the employee, it is significant recognition of that relationship every time a paycheck is cashed. For the employer, pay is often the critical element of the business bottom line and whether that organization can attract and retain the talent to get its work done. Dan Rose, Laurel McClead, and Pete Felmly, attorneys with Drummond Woodsum in Portland, join us for a twofold analysis of compensation. First, they will look at federal and state pay requirements and the many nuances of the law that get employers in trouble, including equal pay and accurate pay. Then, they will turn their attention to some creative dialogues and interaction on “equity” and “fairness” as those terms are interpreted by employers, employees, and regulators. How do you assess the value of one position vs. another? What does this mean for your strategic business plan? And how does this align with the values of your organization?
