Drummond Woodsum Team Presents at the 29th Annual Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments Planning Day

Ted Kelleher, Aga Pinette, and Hannah King presented at the 29th Annual Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments Planning Day on Municipal Land Use Regulation of Legal Marijuana Businesses. More than 75 local elected officials and planning and code enforcement officers from municipalities in the Androscoggin Valley region were in attendance.

Over the past year, AVCOG has fielded questions concerning the scope and limits of land use regulation of these operations.  Drummond Woodsum’s team offered analysis of Maine’s medical marijuana laws, the proposed adult use legalization referendum, and a discussion of options and approaches for Maine municipalities in responding to both the state’s existing medical marijuana law and the pending legalization of marijuana. “The emergence of a legal marijuana industry in Maine presents policymakers at all levels with difficult legal challenges; our team has studied these issues in depth and we are prepared to help Maine’s local municipal leaders address these issues clearly and comprehensively” said Kelleher, leader of Drummond Woodsum’s Regulated Substances Practice.
