Labor Rule Changes: Is Your Tribe Ready?

Labor and employment law in Indian Country continues to provide new developments through recent National Labor Relations Board court decisions, The courts have created uncertainty on the application of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to tribal governments and the new overtime rule that raises the salary threshold at which eligible workers qualify for overtime pay from $23,660 to $47,476 per year. Does your tribe have the information it needs to comply and prepare? Presenters in this session will review the applicability of the FLSA to tribal governments, general background on labor regulations, and provide attendees with information on how to get ready for the overtime rule which sets an implementation deadline of December 1st, 2016.
