School boards have the final say, locally, on the new teacher and principal evaluation systems that must rate educator effectiveness, based at least partly on student learning and growth. A school attorney who has been closely following the implementation of the law will discuss the key aspects of the new systems, how to use them for employment purposes, and critical issues that school board members should be aware of as they review and approve their new systems.
