Coastal Studies for Girls Welcomes Drummond Woodsum Attorney Hannah King to Board of Trustees

Coastal Studies for Girls (CSG) in Freeport, Maine, announced today the election of attorney Hannah King to the school’s Board of Trustees. King is an attorney with Drummond Woodsum, in Portland. Pam Erickson, Executive Director of CSG, a residential semester school for science and leadership for tenth grade girls, said of the addition, “Hannah is a strong addition to a dedicated and hard-working Board. Hannah’s background in experiential education and stewardship of the environment meshes very well with our mission and focus here at CSG.”

Hannah studied creative writing and adventure education at Prescott College, in Prescott, Arizona.  She later attended the University of Maine School of Law where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Ocean and Coastal Law Journal and was awarded the Edward S. Godfrey Leadership Award and Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award.  Prior to attending law school, King worked for a number of adventure education programs, including Colorado Outward Bound, and environmental non-profits.  After graduating cum laude from law school in 2009, she moved to Alaska where she clerked for the Honorable Judge Jack Smith and worked in both the trial and appellate units at the Alaska Public Defender. In 2013, Hannah returned to Maine and joined Drummond Woodsum.

“I am excited by the CSG program,” says Hannah. “The challenges with which the girls are presented teaches them leadership and confidence, while discovering the excitement of science and environmental stewardship. This unique brand of educational experience, experiential learning with an emphasis on leadership, has had a profound impact on my own life, and I am looking forward to being involved with CSG.”

Board of Trustees President, Edith Aronson, said of King, "We are very excited for Hannah to be joining our Board of Trustees.  She brings a personal and professional dedication to the team that can only accelerate CSG's growth and improve the already high-quality experience CSG offers to girls."
