Award Winning Law Firm: Public Service & Honors
Our attorneys and consultants have a strong record of public service – from serving on the boards of civic, educational, and charitable organizations, to serving on town councils and boards, to volunteering for an eclectic number of causes.
In 1995, Drummond Woodsum was the first recipient of the large firm Pro Bono Publico award from the Maine Bar Foundation, and in 2010 and again in 2011, the firm received the Pro Bono Publico Award from the Maine Bar and the Volunteer Lawyers Project for the "Most VLP Cases Accepted by a Law Firm." In 1998, we helped to establish the Coffin Fellows Program, which funds fellowships for two attorneys who work full-time representing indigent clients in domestic relations matters. Many attorneys at the firm provide pro bono legal services for the Volunteer Lawyers Project and the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project . Drummond Woodsum received the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP) award for “excellence in providing pro bono representation to asylum seekers and other noncitizens.” in 2009, 2010, and 2011. Further, many of our attorneys have been featured in Best Lawyers in America and have been recipients of a wide range of awards and recognitions.
